Also taken in 1998, this photo shows one of the original Sóller tramcars, no.2, coming into the station yard at Sóller to run around the trailer cars prior to its return to Puerto de Sóller. In this photo tramcar no.2 has drawn its trailer cars into the station yard at Sóller and will run around them, re-attach to the other end of the rake and return to Puerto de Sóller. Tramcar no.2 at Puerto de Sóller. The tram has left its rake of trailers at the passenger terminus and has run forward to the gates of the Naval Yard. It is now about to reverse and run round the rake in order to take it back to Sóller. This photo shows the interior of the Naval Yard at Puerto de Sóller and you can see quite clearly where an extension of the tram tracks, built in the 1920's used to run within the yard - the tracks are still there but have been tarred over. During the Spanish civil war these tracks were used to deliver torpedoes manufactured at San Caubet to warships anchored here. This is Sóller tram no.4 which was obtained in 1959 from Bilbao Tramways along with another car which was converted to trailer car no.7. It had originally been intended that no.7 should also be a power car but the difficulties encountered in converting the gauge of the geared power trucks from the wider gauge used in Bilbao resulted in the decision to make it an unpowered trailer. This photo was taken in Sóller town, just north of the main square, and the tram is heading for Puerto de Sóller. This shows the track where it runs through the northern outskirts of Sóller town, about a quarter of a mile beyond the location of the previous picture. On both sides of the track are cultivated areas where oranges and lemons are grown. Taken in 1998, an ornamental gateway leading from the old Sóller gasworks onto the tram tracks. I would be grateful for any further information on this subject. Taken in 1998, this is another view of the northern boundary wall of the old Sóller gasworks and you can quite clearly see where an entrance has been filled in. I believe this used to house a spur off the tram tracks to facilitate the delivery of coal. Again, I would be grateful for any further information on this subject.
